The hardwood feels really solid and smooth, no splinters after weeks of daily use. My daughter traces the letters with her finger before trying a crayon, and the grooves actually keep her steady.

My four-year-old actually reaches for these over the tablet now, which I didn't expect. The grooves are deep enough that her finger follows the letter shape without me guiding her hand. We keep the whole set in a basket on the coffee table and she traces a few before bed.

The hardwood tiles have a nice weight to them, and my daughter loves tracing the letters with her finger before we try a crayon. After two weeks she's already recognizing a few on her own, which I didn't expect this soon.
