My three-year-old finally counts objects instead of just reciting numbers, and I credit the one-to-one correspondence this board teaches. She'll sit for twenty minutes pushing each peg into its hole while counting out loud.

The wooden pegs are chunky enough for little hands to grip, and my 3-year-old stays focused on matching each one to its hole way longer than I expected. It's become our go-to quiet activity before nap.

My 4-year-old actually counts the pegs out loud now instead of just guessing, which is exactly what I hoped for. The one-to-one correspondence thing really clicks when they have to physically place each peg.
